Egypt episode
01.04.22 Pharaoh Akhenaten of Egypt died 1300 years before the birth of Jesus Christ. His son was not only old but also lost his mother Kia at birth. He had been sick since childhood and suffered from recurrent malaria. Minister I began to rule the country by putting him on the throne. His name is Tutankhamen. He married his honest sister Ankhesenamen. Brother and sister marriage was not uncommon in Egypt then. Their two children died shortly after birth. Tutankhamen was so ill that he could not walk without a cane. He died at the age of only nineteen. Minister I immediately arranged for his burial and became Pharaoh himself. Many suspect that Tutankhamen was killed, although no specific evidence has been found. After Tutankhamen's death, his wife, Ankhesenamen, wrote a letter proposing marriage to a prince of a neighboring country. He agreed to the letter and crossed the desert to Egypt but was killed in the middle of the desert. Ankhesenamen was no longer found. I Pharaoh removed the statues of Tutankhamen from all the temples so that no one would remember him. But the irony of fate is that no one remembers IK today but people all over the world know Tutankhamen for a special reason. Because Tutankhamen is the only pharaoh whose tomb is found almost intact.
This tomb is one of the greatest archaeological discoveries of the twentieth century, with two outstanding human contributions. They are Howard Carter and Lord Carnarvon.
Although Lord is named Carnarvon, he owes a lot to the market. He is currently in Cairo trying to make a profit by investing in another excavation. Then he met Carter in Cairo. Carter was then the manager of the Egyptian Department of Antiquity and an archaeologist himself. Carter explained that there was a 3,000-year-old tomb of a pharaoh in the Valley of the Kings, which, if found, would pay off all of Carnarvon's debts. Carnarvon agreed to invest. Carter began work in 1914, but after eight years of extensive excavations found nothing but the tomb of Ramasses V. There was no such thing. Meanwhile, money and time are running out. 1922 was Carter's last chance. At the entrance of the Valley of the Kings there is a lot of light stone for the previous excavations. Which needs to be cleaned up as winter approaches and tourists will start coming. Workers find a ladder that has gone further down while cleaning. Finally, Carter finds a door in the hieroglyphs that reads, "Amen-tooth-eye." This means Tutankhamen's tomb. Seeing all the splendor and mummy, Carter took a short vacation to Luxor, and Carnarvon sailed for Aswan with his daughter, where he was bitten by a mosquito and cut his beard. Carnarvon died trying to enter the cursed cave.
I am standing in front of Tutankhamen's tomb in the Egyptian Museum. Scenes from the movie flashbacks floated before my eyes. 3300 years ago .. a nineteen year old pharaoh's mummified body lying ..... priest reciting mantra ... his sister and wife are crying profusely. The second scene .... a hundred years ago today ..... Lord Carnarvon enters the tombs of Lady Evelyn and Howard Carter Tutankhamen and looks in amazement at the splendor kept there. We are also amazed and wondering how everything is so perfect. It is forbidden to take pictures here, so I can't see. Gold beds, chariots, 142 charms, chairs, lots of ornaments, several gold coffins, slippers, a full gold coffin, a lot of things like that. Eyes are dazzled. The mummy is kept on kv62. All things extraordinarily beautiful. Impossible to express in language. This Egyptian museum in Cairo has huge, 120,000 archeological artifacts. Another new museum is being built which will open in November this year. It is forbidden to enter the museum with a camera, but pictures can be taken with a mobile camera, except in Tutankhamen's house. Statues and objects to be seen in abundance. All three to five thousand years old.
In the morning we saw Mohammad Ali Pasha Mosque or alabaster Mosque. It was built in 1930-38. It is like a fortress, its huge size can accommodate 10,000 people praying together. Women have to wear hijab when entering the mosque, even if they do not wear hijab after entering. Everyone has to wear shoes.
After lunch our last sight is khan-el-khalili market. Shops on both sides of a narrow street, huge crowds a lot like our big market. There is a lot of bargaining in the shops. There are also some fixed price shops. Almost everything is available here.
An extraordinary country was seen. Although many European countries have been visited before, they have not had the good fortune to see things that are more than 2000 years old. Everything in Egypt is about 3000 to 5000 years old. I saw a very beautiful blue river. Mediterranean Sea, Red Sea, Sahara Desert, balloon ride, submarine. Egypt salutes you, salutes your sincerity.
